Long John Silver's is America's largest quick-service seafood chain with over 1200 units worldwide. They are best known for deep-fried, tempura-battered fish, shrimp and chicken tenders. As with Red Lobster, one may wonder why a seafood chain would try to operate in Lafayette. (To their credit, if you want fried fish fast in Lafayette, there aren't many options.) Readers of the Lafayette Memories Facebook page indicated at least four defunct Lafayette locations:

  • Johnston at Guilbeau (later Mr. Cook and a Chinese restaurant; now demolished)
  • Somewhere on Evangeline Thruway
  • "There was a Long John Silvers where Domino's is where Hoppers was." - Katy Richard
  • An unknown location indicated by Chuck Peddy.
