Anyone else notice how dining in Baton Rouge is different from dining in both Lafayette and New Orleans? For some reason, Baton Rouge attracts and keeps chains that are well-established in Texas, the South, and even Lake Charles, yet avoid or fail in Lafayette and New Orleans. Some examples:

  • Jack in the Box (multiple locations throughout metro Baton Rouge and metro Lake Charles)
  • Back Yard Burgers (failed in Lafayette)
  • Cheeburger Cheeburger
  • Dairy Queen (failed in Lafayette)
  • Dunkin' Donuts
  • Five Guys
  • On the Border
  • Papa Murphy's (failed in Lafayette)
  • Twin Peaks
