• Fill inexpensive plastic containers with water. Store in freezer.
  • Charge all portable and mobile devices to full capacity. Laptops, cell phones and tablets can serve as light sources while charged, postponing the use of flashlights and batteries. (Primary communication devices should be fully-charged before the storm and used sparingly afterwards.)
  • Prepare cameras for use to document storm damage. Make sure all cameras have charged batteries and empty memory cards.
  • Go to stores that sell supplies in bulk or discontinued products to stock up on supplies. This helps you avoid the crowds at mainstream stores and increases your chances of finding the supplies that you want before they are sold out.
  • Pop microwave popcorn in advance of the storm. Store for consumption afterwards.
