  • 2-3lb onions, chopped
  • 3 large cloves garlic
  • 4 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cans stewed tomatoes
  • 3 cans tomato paste
  • 1 scant Tbsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 small bay leaves
  • 3 tsp oregano

Cook onions, garlic and olive oil together until soft. Add remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 2-3 hours. Add meatballs and cook for another 1 hour.
